Because I get asked every now and then how I make my plushies, I thought I'd write a journal about it.
This is the pattern I used when I first started making plushies - fav.me/d4hh6uf
it's similar to the one I use.
I just change the hair and clothes to match who ever I'm making. (Please don't ask for my patterns, I will not be posting them
I'm not currently making any plushies so I can't take any photos to show you EXACTLY how I do the hair, but I can give you a quick overview. (I found a few tutorials that used when I first started making plushies HERE and HERE
I trace the main head pattern onto a piece of paper and then I draw the hair shape I wanted around the main patter. I do this twice, once for the front and again for the back. Like THIS
And then I tape the patterns to the felt (I used to draw the pattern straight onto the felt, but it would always look gross afterwards when it was on the plush, so that's why I use tape.
) and then I put the hair on to the head (with NO stuffing in the head! I always put the hair on before I stuff it/sew it to the body
) and I use a ladder stitch to sew it to the head, making sure to ONLY go part way though the felt so it doesn't show up on the otherside. And once you have it sewn onto the head, add the eyes, stuff it sew the head and neck closed with a ladder stitch and then sew it onto the body with a ladder stitch Ladder Stitch - Tutorial
